ABOUT/BIO:

Peter Starr is the Medical Research Director of Healing Arts Education Foundation, a 501c3 charitable organization he founded following his own prostate cancer diagnosis in 2004.  An International award winning film-maker, key note speaker and author, Starr’s focus is on education and consultation, providing a source of credible holistic, naturopathic and medical resources for men similarly diagnosed.  Starr’s three DVD set “Surviving Prostate Cancer without Surgery, Drugs or Radiation and his new book Prostate Cancer: Why We Get It; What to Do About It, is based on his own experience and work with 52 doctors from 8 countries on 3 continents.  His DVD set was broadcast on many PBS television stations and is available from the Foundation’s website www.survivingprostatecancer.org.

Prior to his prostate cancer diagnosis, from 1973 – 1988, he wrote, produced and directed over 40 films on motorcycle sport including the multi award-wining, feature-length “Take It To The Limit.”  All of Starr’s films were either released in the cinema or broadcast on national television. During this time Starr was honored with 14 International Awards for film and television production including premier awards at the Chicago and Houston International Film Festivals. From 1991 – 1999 Starr was a stunt performer in such movies as Apollo 13, Batman and Robin, Lethal Weapon 3 and many other action movies and television commercials.

In addition to the upcoming book on Prostate Cancer, Starr has authored two autobiographic books about his career in film making and his world motorcycle adventures in twelve countries, the latter being devised as part of his cancer recovery program and designing a purposeful life as an integral part of that recovery.

In 2011 Starr was inducted into the Trailblazers Hall of Fame, and in 2017, inducted into the American Motorcyclist Association Hall of Fame.
